an error of the moon
By Luigi Creatore
All Tickets $13 for the First Preview on Friday The 13th!
At Theatre Row’s Beckett Theatre.

AN ERROR OF THE MOON, a speculation of jealousy, madness and the brothers Booth, will begin Off-Broadway performances August 13th at The Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street. The new play by Luigi Creatore will officially open on Monday, August 30th for a limited engagement through October 10th. Under the direction of Kim Weild, the cast of AN ERROR OF THE MOON features Margaret Copeland, Erik Heger, Andrew Veenstra, and Brian Wallace.

As the first performance falls on Friday The 13th (which means very good luck in the skewed world of the American Theater), all seats are $13 that night. This is a one-night-only special ticket deal.

AN ERROR OF THE MOON is a fictional portrait of the brothers Edwin and John Wilkes Booth, the rockstars of their day. Edwin tells his tale of a man consumed by sexual jealousy, of bitter sibling rivalry, and the mad obsession that sparked the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

Margaret Copeland performed her one woman show My Fake IDs around the country and Off-Broadway at the Lamb’s Theatre. She also performs stand up comedy in clubs throughout New York City. Erik Heger appeared Off-Broadway in MTC’s Based on a Totally True Story and his films include Upside Out and A Perfect Match. Andrew Veenstra has numerous regional credits including Romeo and Juliet at Pioneer Theatre Co. and A Christmas Carol at Geva Theatre. Brian Wallace appeared in the Obie-winning The Good Negro at the Public and The Germans in Paris with Angelica Torn at the Verse Theater.

Playwright Luigi Creatore has spent most of his working life as a record producer, creating hit records for Sarah Vaughan, Jimmie Rodgers, Perry Como, Sam Cooke, and many others. As a lyricist, he wrote a number of hit songs including the megahits "Can't Help Falling in Love" for Elvis Presley and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." Luigi was represented on Broadway (book and lyrics) with Maggie Flynn starring Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy; Off-Broadway with Smile, Smile, Smile; and the last two seasons Off-Broadway with the comedy Flamingo Court.

Director Kim Weild most recently directed Off-Broadway’s Fêtes de la Nuit (2010 Drama Desk nomination). She has worked extensively as Associate Director to Michael Blakemore, including on the Broadway revival of Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury, Deuce starring Angela Lansbury and Marian Seldes, and Is He Dead? She has also associate directed for Tina Landau on Wig Out! at The Vineyard and Charles Mee's Iphigenia 2.0 at Signature Theatre.

Scenic design for AN ERROR OF THE MOON is by Steven Capone, with costume design by Alixandra Gage Englund, lighting design by Charles Foster, sound design by Christian Frederickson, and projection design by C. Andrew Bauer. Fight direction is by Rick Sordelet.

The playing schedule for AN ERROR OF THE MOON will be Tuesdays at 7 pm, Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 2 pm & 8 pm, and Sundays at 3 pm. Regularly priced tickets are $50 and are available through 212-239-6200. A limited number of $20 Student Rush tickets (2 ticket limit) will be available day of performance at the Theatre Row box office. Valid ID is required.
