Like every beauty pageant you've seen before, PAGEANT features contestants desperately vying for a glittering tiara. With swimsuit, talent, and evening gown competitions – the show includes both the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat! Unlike some beauty pageants you've seen before, the female contestants are all played by men. And the audience gets to select the winner each night. Filled with excitement and suspense, but first and foremost, beauty. Let the beauty begin!

PAGEANT debuted Off-Broadway in 1991 at the Blue Angel in New York where it ran for more than a year before playing successful engagements on the West End and around the world. Pageant was last seen this February in a sold-out five-show special engagement that benefitted Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS at the Red Lacquer Club, which was the first time it had returned to the New York stage in more than twenty years.

JAY/TER RECORDS was founded in 1979 by John Yap to record the Original London Cast album of a charming and artistically acclaimed revue called NASHVILLE, NEW YORK at The King’s Head Theatre, London.  The revue had music by Kurt Weill and Duke Ellington set to the writings and lyrics by Ogden Nash.  That was followed by the Original London Cast recording of another acclaimed revue called BETJEMANIA.  This revue had music by John Gould set to the poems and writings of John Betjeman.  These recordings of two fringe revues immediately led to recordings of major West End productions by the label.  Original London Cast recordings soon followed and included PAL JOEY (with Sian Phillips), CAMELOT (with Richard Harris), BITTER SWEET, CANDIDE, LADY IN THE DARK, OKLAHOMA!, THE THREE PENNY OPERA, THE BOYFRIEND etc. Within 3 years of the label being started, JAY/TER Records had the distinction of being the only British Record Company to have crossed the Atlantic Ocean from London to New York to record a Broadway Cast album.  This is still the case today.  In 1983, JAY recorded the Broadway Cast album of ON YOUR TOES.  This was followed by THE RINK, BABY, JERRY’S GIRLS, GRIND etc.  Since then JAY has recorded over 50 Broadway and Off Broadway Cast albums and include THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, CLOSER THAN EVER, A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE, PETER PAN, BUSKER ALLEY, DESSA ROSE, THE LANDING, RAGTME etc. JAY also has the distinction of being the only Record Company, Worldwide, of having the largest catalogue of Complete Recordings of some of the greatest Musical Theatre Masterworks. We decided to create a unique catalogue of the complete scores (and often, the entire work with the books intact) of as many of these Masterworks in their Original Orchestrations as possible, for posterity.  The list of Complete recordings (with Stars from Broadway, London, TV and Hollywood) include WEST SIDE STORY, MY FAIR LADY, GUYS AND DOLLS, SOUTH PACIFIC, ONE TOUCH OF VENUS, PACIFIC OVERTURES, ANNIE GET YOUR GUY, CABARET, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, THE MUSIC MAN, ON THE TOWN, KISS ME, KATE!, KISMET, SHOWBOAT, THE MOST HAPPY FELLA, THE STUDENT PRINCE THE KING AND I, MAN OF LA MANCHA, THE PAJAMA GAME, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, NINE, STREET SCENE etc. JAY also recorded Opera and Operettas with the likes of the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Sadler’s Wells Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North and the D’Oyle Carte Opera.  Recordings include AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS, THE MERRY WIDOW, ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD, CANDIDE, COUNTESS MARITZA, SHOW BOAT, THE MIKADO and 8 other Gilbert and Sullivan Operas. JAY is still as active as ever, currently preparing for release, the new John Kander and Greg Pierce Musical THE LANDING, a Complete Recording of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE, a new London Cast album of the new musical THERESE RAQUIN, the Off Broadway Cast recording of SIX WIVES and Donna McKechnie’s Cabaret act, SAME PLACE ANOTHER TIME.  These will be added to the JAY catalogue of over 750 albums in it.
