28th ANNUAL

BROADWAY FLEA MARKET
& GRAND AUCTION

RETURNS TO
TIMES SQUARE, SHUBERT ALLEY
AND WEST 44TH STREET

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2014

PRODUCED BY AND BENEFITING BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS

The 28th annual Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction (#bwayflea) arrives Sunday, September 21, 2014, in the newly transformed Times Square pedestrian plaza, historic Shubert Alley and along West 44th Street in the heart of New York City's Theatre District. The biggest day of the year for Broadway fans is produced by and benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The free-to-the-public, once-a-year outdoor market will establish roots in the beautifully transformed pedestrian plaza along Broadway between 43rd and 44th Streets while also lining West 44th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues and filling the Flea Market’s first home in Shubert Alley. The always popular Autograph Table and Photo Booth will again be based on the deck of Junior's Restaurant in Shubert Alley at West 45th Street.

Ongoing construction throughout the neighborhood prompted changes to the day-long event's layout for each of the last several years.

“We're excited to confirm the now-perfect footprint for the Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction,” BC/EFA Executive Director Tom Viola said. “Scaffolding is down from the end of West 44th Street at Eighth Avenue, the repaving of Shubert Alley is finished and the stunning transformation of the pedestrian plaza along Broadway at 44th is now complete.  It’s been a long haul moving from place to place these last couple of years, but it’s been worth the wait. The Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction has now found the ideal home in the center of Broadway and as part of new public spaces that have been so brilliantly transformed into world-class piazzas at the crossroads of the world.”

The Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction includes one-of-a-kind opportunities to own a part of theatre history or to step into the footlights. Broadway fans can search for unique showbiz treasures, meet favorite cast members and bid on exclusive backstage experiences. The Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction takes place from 10 AM – 7 PM.

Shows and organizations participating in the Flea Market, packages to be offered in the Grand Auction and stars set to appear at the Autograph Table & Photo Booth will be announced in September.

Last year, the Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction raised $631,222, bringing the event's 27-year total to more than $10.3 million.

The 28th Annual Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction is sponsored by United Airlines and The New York Times.
