Producer Ken Davenport announced today that on Sunday, February 19, for the first-time in Broadway history, fans will have the opportunity to tweet live during the 7:30 p.m. performance of the hit new revival of Stephen Schwartz's legendary rock musical GODSPELL.

{module ad_left_body}For the February 19 "Tweet Seat Performance," GODSPELL's social media marketing team will choose 15 of the show's most vocal Twitter fans and grant them each a free ticket to tweet live, during the performance.

"Tweet Seats" will be in a designated section of the theater that will not be disruptive to other audience members in attendance.

"Tweet seats have been talked about (and ironically tweeted about) ever since theaters, symphonies and all sorts of arts organizations all around the world have started to experiment with ways to harness the energy of this powerful medium during their performances," said Ken Davenport.  "At GODSPELL, we have some of the most passionate Twitter users I've ever seen on a Broadway show, so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to reward them for the tweeting they've done, and also to test the concept of 'Tweet Seats' in a Broadway theater.  The challenge, of course, is making sure that the activities of some don't affect the experience for others.  This is a very important issue for me and my staff.  So we've done a number of test runs, and are confident that we have found a way to make sure everyone has a wonderful experience at GODSPELL.  But, there's only one way to really find out.  So on Sunday evening, February 19, for one night only, we're going to give it a tweet."

In addition to the 15 complimentary "Tweet Seats" for GODSPELL's biggest Twitter fans, a limited number of additional "Tweet Seats" can be purchased for $99.  All "Tweet Seat" ticket holders will also be invited to a special pre-show event on February 19 with members of the GODSPELL cast and creative team.
