The Town Hall Presents THE CAPITOL STEPS In Their Only NY Appearance

THE TOWN HALL PRESENTS

THE CAPITOL STEPS
The Award-Winning Political Musical Comedy Troupe

IN THEIR ONLY NEW YORK APPEARANCE IN 2012
FRIDAY, March 23rd AT 8PM

The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street), Times Square’s landmark theater and concert venue, presents THE CAPITOL STEPS, in their only New York appearance in 2012 on Friday, March 23rd at 8PM. Celebrating 30 years of political musical parody, the evening will include songs from their latest release Desperate Housemembers, and will also take aim at Mitt Romney and all of the primary winners, President Obama, the hardworking folks at TSA and other political “favorites”.

{module ad_left_body}While THE CAPITOL STEPS are renowned for poking fun at occupants of the White House, no one is safe from their satirical barbs, from Democrats to Republicans, international politicians and even today’s trends and celebrities. THE CAPITOL STEPS are all about timing— political timing, comedic timing, and the timing it takes to write satire that’s right on top of the latest news, scandals, and polls.

Famous for putting the “mock” in democracy, THE CAPITOL STEPS have irreverent charm for both sides of the aisle with their unique brand of political humor set to popular music. Formed in December 1981 by a group of Congressional staffers, the group shows that more often than not, politics are good for a laugh.

THE CAPITOL STEPS received a New York Drama Desk nomination for “outstanding lyrics”, and have twice won the Washington Area Music Association’s “Wammie Award” for outstanding cabaret and musical theatre performance. They have been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN and can be heard nationally on Public Radio.

THE CAPITOL STEPS are part of The Town Hall’s 2012 spring season, which also includes: Soul of Cuba: Sierra Maestro on April 21st at 8PM, Lea Salonga: The Journey Continueson May 4th at 8PM, Loudon Wainwright III With Some Family and Friends on May 18th at 8PM, An Evening with Judy Collins and Madeleine Peyrouxon Friday, June 1st at 8PM, Jane Krakowski Live at The Town Hall on Friday, June 8th at 8PM and Tango for Lovers Only: The Romulo Larrera Ensemble on Friday, June 22nd at 8pm.
