New York, NY (9/29/09) The producers of HAIR have announced the addition of six new cast members to the Tony Award-winning musical.  Krystal Joy Brown, Heath Calvert, Matt DeAngelis, Rachel Bay Jones, Hannah Shankman and Ryan Watkinson have now joined the “Tribe.” HAIR began preview performances on March 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, NYC) and opened to rave reviews on March 31, 2009.

The HAIR “Tribe” also includes Sasha Allen, Ato Blankson-Wood, Steel Burkhardt, Jackie Burns, Briana Carlson-Goodman, Allison Case, Gavin Creel, Lauren Elder, Allison Guinn, Chasten Harmon, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Kaitlin Kiyan, Andrew Kober, Josh Lamon, Caissie Levy, Nicole Lewis, John Moauro, Darius Nichols, Brandon Pearson, Paris Remillard, Megan Reinking, Bryce Ryness, Michael James Scott, Maya Sharpe, Kacie Sheik, Will Swenson and Tommar Wilson.

The story of a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era, HAIR is a timeless portrait of a movement that changed the world. Its groundbreaking rock score paved the way for some of the greatest musicals of our time. Now, the "Age of Aquarius" dawns again in this jubilant new production, which is the winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. The Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle also recently honored the production with their 2009 award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical. Directed by Diane Paulus and choreographed by Karole Armitage, HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot.

The creative team also includes Scott Pask (scenic design), Michael McDonald (costume design), Kevin Adams (lighting design) and Acme Sound Partners (sound design).

HAIR is presented on Broadway by The Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director; Andrew D. Hamingson, Executive Director) Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, Gary Goddard Entertainment, Kathleen K. The producers of HAIR have also established a pre-performance ticket lottery for box-seat tickets, aptly renamed “BE-IN BOXES.”   Those wishing to purchase these tickets are asked to show up at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre 2 1/2 hours before each performance for a drawing that will take place 2 hours before curtain.  For every performance, a limited number of  lucky audience members will receive $25 “be-in box” tickets, promising to make their experience of the show both affordable and unique.  Limit one entry per person, and two tickets per entry.  Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid ID to purchase tickets.  Tickets can be purchased from the box office in cash only.

Ghostlight Records’ New Broadway Cast Recording of HAIR is currently available in stores and on iTunes.

Krystal Joy Brown is a Sagittarius/Capricorn who believes in dreams and miracles.  She is thankful to her family, friends and agents who are all magical and never stop believing in her.  THANKS MOM!  Fave creds: Mimi (Rent, national tour), Monique (Streetlights, Off-Broadway), Crystal (Little Shop of Horrors).  Currently she is recording an album and is proud to be joining this AMAZING Tribe, making her B’way debut!  Live now!  Equality now!

Heath Calvert is a Capricorn mountain goat that's lived in 9 states and loves all of them for warping him into a meteorite that landed in the Peruvian Amazon. He's feeling very thankful towards his wonderful teachers, friends, unwitting co-conspirators, and this beauteous tribe. He has his own definition of extraordinary rendition that still involves blindfolds, but much less pain and embarrassment. Gracias madre, padre, et ma belle souer. Thanks KSR. All people from other places are precious.

Matt DeAngelis is a true Gemini from Boston Mass.  He is totally stoked to be making his Broadway Debut with this tribe of lovers and artists.  He believes in optimism, true spirituality, equality for all, Actors’ Equity Association, and The Boston Red Sox!  Thank you to Leading Artists, and my loving parents, my amazing sister, and the love of my life Rachel.  He wouldn’t be here today without the loving support of his Dog...Fenway!  Spread Love!!!

Rachel Bay Jones is the Scorpio daughter of a pair of actors-turned-health-food-store-proprietors who always encourage her to be who she is and eat her alfalfa sprouts.  She has a guy named Benim, who has a little girl named Cordelia.  And she is the happy mother of radiant Miranda, who reminds her that love really is all there is.  She is over the moon to be part of this hairy community, and enjoys writing about herself in the third person.  Gratitude to The Mine, and to Dave T.   Solo Album, ShowFolk.   www.rachelbayjones.com

Hannah Shankman is a true Aries who believes in EQUALITY for ALL!  She is thankful that the stars aligned so she could make her Broadway debut with this magical Tribe.  Fight for good, care for others, and spread compassion.  Endless gratitude, love and thanks to her friends.  WTF loves, teachers, parents for their faith in her, brother Johnny and sister Sarah: you are beauty.  As Buddha said, “Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love.”  PEACE!

Ryan Watkinson hails from the cosmopolitan borough of Rockville, Maryland and has only smiles about joining this beautiful company of true artists. He is an intense optimist and a true believer in karma, and is so glad you're here. Ryan has been seen on this glorious avenue dancing to Billy Joel and disco-roller-skating in a dress. Love to my incredible family, friends, and KGA. And, as always, BBF and AEM.
