Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

(New York, NY)  October 6, 2010 – The Broadway League announced today that Adam Riegler, currently playing Pugsley Addams in the wonderful, wacky Broadway show The Addams Family, will serve as the National Ambassador for KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY’s special Halloween edition, presented with the support of PLAYBILL ®. This special edition of Kids’ Night will salute UNICEF and the 60th Anniversary of their time-honored Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF program. The yearly Kids’ Night on Broadway program is generously supported by The New York Times.

Mr. Riegler stated, “I am honored to be the Ambassador for this special Halloween KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY. Halloween is one of the greatest days of the year for kids, and Broadway is great for kids every day of the year! We’re asking kids to come dressed in costume as their favorite Broadway characters, and I can’t wait to look out at the audience to see all of the Pugsleys!”

The Addams Family is Mr. Riegler’s second Broadway show. He made his Broadway debut in Dreamworks’ Shrek the Musical, where he originated the roles of Young Shrek/Dwarf. His Off Broadway credits include I and Albert, A Tribute to Joseph Stein (York Theatre) and Intervention (NYMF). Theatregoers also will recognize him as, Cubby Bernstein: Tony Campaign Manager.

This special KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY will take place in New York City on October 31, 2010 with a pre-theatre Halloween party from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Madame Tussauds New York. KNOB ticket holders will have the opportunity to tour the famed Times Square wax attraction for free, enjoying unique theatre activities along the way. To celebrate Halloween, there will be festive Broadway costume events, stage door trick-or-treating, and more treats. Kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Broadway characters.

KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY is when kids ages 6 to 18 can see Broadway shows for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. Tickets to participating shows for the special Halloween KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY (KidsNightonBroadway.com) are currently on sale. A KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY ticket includes pre-theatre parties, restaurant discounts, parking discounts, special kids’ souvenir program provided by PLAYBILL and Theatre Development Fund, and more.

KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY is generously presented by The New York Times and is officially sponsored by Madame Tussauds New York – the famed Times Square wax attraction which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year - and the Theatre Development Fund.  This special Halloween edition of KIDS’ NIGHT is made possible by the generous support of PLAYBILL, and will salute UNICEF and the 60th anniversary of its time-honored Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF program, which, since its inception, has raised nearly $160 million for lifesaving programs worldwide.
