Andrew C. McGibbon

 

 

Andrew C. McGibbon has spent the past thirty years working in live theatre as a stage manager, general manager, producer and leader in the convergence of Broadway and online.

Mr. McGibbon worked as a stage manager and general manager for ten years. In 1994 he created a website devoted to live theatre, BroadwayWorld-Wide.com. The site was subsequently bought by, and became Playbill.com. He continued to manage the site for Playbill for four years. In 2000 he became the website manager for TonyAwards.com. With the 2008-09 season he finished his ninth year on the show. He has also worked as a webmaster for the Broadway LeagueJazz at Lincoln Center, and as the Director of Digital Media for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

Since 2015, Andrew has been working as an architectural photographer and virtual tour photographer known for his photography of theatres such as the Kimmel Center, Tanglewood, Signature Theatre Company, Roundabout Theatre Company, Arena Stage and the Goodspeed Opera House.

Mr. McGibbon is a member of the American Theatre Critics Association, the Independent Theatre Bloggers AssociationActors' Equity Association and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, as well as the American Society of Media Photographers

In addition to his work in the theatrical industry, Mr. McGibbon is also a partner in Simple Solutions Distributing, a manufacturer of filtration equipment for the waste-water industry.

Broadway Review: LES MISÉRABLES

If you watch most theatre critics sitting in an audience, it would seem we are taking our job very seriously. We have good poker faces. If you watch, you won't see us applaud much, and if we do, it will be a polite, gentle applause; and we certainly don't stand up at the end (except to see around other patrons). That wasn't the case with this critic and the latest Broadway revival of Les Misérables.

New York – Monday, May 5, 2014 – The Night Alive, written by Conor McPherson, today won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award (NYDCC) for Best Play of the 2012-2013 season. All the Way, written by Robert Schenkkan received the award for Best American Play. A Fun Home received the award for Best Musical.  The selections were made at the 79th annual voting meeting of the organization today at the offices of Time Out New York in Manhattan.

Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman are currently represented in real life at Lincoln Center in Act One, but next year their most popular and acclaimed work You Can’t Take It with You, will return to Broadway for the first time in more than 30 years.  The production will star Tony Award and Outer Critics Circle Winner James Earl Jones (Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, Fences, The Great White Hope,) and will be directed by six-time Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Scott Ellis (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Twelve Angry Men, 1776). The production will begin previews in August of 2014 for an opening on September 28, 2014 at a Shubert Theatre to be announced.

New York, New York (April 25, 2014) – The Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the fourth and final time this season to determine the eligibility of eighteen Broadway productions for the 2014 American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.   The Tony Awards Administration Committee has met a total of four times throughout the 2013-2014 season to decide the eligibility for the 68th Annual Tony Awards.
