(Minneapolis/St. Paul) Friday night saw the opening of the Guthrie Theater’s romantic summer comedy Pride and Prejudice helmed by Guthrie director Joe Dowling. The production is the Simon Reade adaptation of the classic Jane Austen novel and features Ashley Rose Montondo (Guthrie: Charley’s Aunt, University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program) as Miss Elizabeth Bennet along with Vincent Kartheiser (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, Henry V, Henry IV; Regional theater: Death of the Novel; Film: Untamed Heart, In Time; Television: “Mad Men”) as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

(Minneapolis/St. Paul)The Guthrie Theater today announced that beginning December 27, the theater will offer its first-ever “Tweet Seats” during four consecutive Thursday performances of The Servant of Two Masters, allowing social media users an opportunity to interact during the show. A limited number of seats located in a balcony level of the McGuire Proscenium in a section that will not be disruptive to other patrons will be designated as Tweet Seats. Tweet Seat tickets are $15 and are available by calling the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, and mentioning “Tweet.” Tickets are not available online, with other offers, or on previously purchased tickets. Handing fees may apply.

GUTHRIE THEATER ANNOUNCES 2012-2013 SEASON

GUTHRIE’S 50th SEASON TACKLES WAR, RACE, HISTORY, POLITICS, AND MODERN FAMILY THEMES

Highlights include a new play by Christopher Hampton, a 2011 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, the return to the Guthrie of a two-time Tony winner, the reuniting of a lauded acting duo in a canonical classic, and a thrilling WorldStage Shakespeare repertory production

(Minneapolis/St. Paul) Guthrie Director Joe Dowling announced 11 mainstage productions of the theater’s 2012-2013 season. The theater’s 50th season and seventh on the Mississippi River looks ahead to a vital future with highlights including three new commissioned plays and works that deal vigorously with themes of war, race and politics through history and contemporary times.
