New York, NY (May 17, 2013) – The Drama League (Executive Director, Gabriel Shanks) announced today the winners for the 79th Annual Drama League AwardsDistinguished Production of a  Musical, Kinky Boots;  presented by Diane PaulusDistinguished Play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, presented by Pam MacKinnonDistinguished Revival of a Musical, Pippin, presented by Alex TimbersDistinguished Revival of a Play, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, presented by Rachel Chavkin; Distinguished Performance, Nathan Lane, presented by Debra Messing  at a star-studded luncheon ceremony hosted by Ms. Messing and David Hyde Pierce at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway).

New York, NY (May 8, 2013) – The Drama League (Executive Director, Gabriel Shanks) has announced Emmy® Award winner Debra Messing will join Tony® and Emmy® Award winner David Hyde Pierce as co-host of the 79th Annual Drama League Awards.  One of the high points of the theater season, the Awards Luncheon will be held Friday afternoon, May 17th at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway) at noon.

New York, NY (April 23, 2013) – The Drama League (Executive Director, Gabriel Shanks) has announced the 2013 Drama League Awards Nominees for Distinguished Play, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and Distinguished Performance Award.  The nominations were announced at a ceremony hosted by Patina Miller and Michael Urie this morning at Sardi’s Restaurant which were streamed live online at www.BroadwayWorld.com.

New York, NY (April 3, 2012) – The Drama League (Executive Director, Gabriel Shanks) has announced this year’s hosts for the 78th Annual Drama League Awards:  Tony Award winners Stockard Channing (Other Desert Cities) and John Larroquette (Gore Vidal’s The Best Man).  The awards ceremony is set for Friday afternoon, May 18th at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway) at Noon.   This year’s Drama League Award Nominees will be announced Tuesday morning, April 24th at Sardi’s.

The Drama League (Jano Herbosch, President; Gabriel Shanks, Executive Director) is pleased to announce that on Monday, April 25, 2011, Norbert Leo Butz and Kathleen Chalfant (both previous winners of The Drama League's Distinguished Performance Award) will announce the nominations for The 77th Annual Drama League Awards.

The announcement will take place at a 10:30 a.m. breakfast reception at SD26 Restaurant, located in the heart of the Flatiron District at 19 East 26th Street (between 5th and Madison Aves.).  Live video coverage of the nominations announcement will be streamed on BroadwayWorld.com at 11 a.m.

Mr. Butz and Ms. Chalfant will announce nominations for The Drama League's five annual competitive awards, including Distinguished Production of Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical and the Distinguished Performance Award.

The 77th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon is set for Friday, May 20, 2011 (noon) in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square (1535 Broadway). The event will be hosted by Academy Award nominee Kathleen Turner, who returns to Broadway this spring in Matthew Lombardo's new drama, High.

As previously announced, each year The Drama League awards three non-competitive Special Recognitions. This year, Whoopi Goldberg will receive the Unique Contribution to the Theatre Award, Liza Minnelli will be honored with the Distinguished Acheivement in Musical Theatre Award and Susan Stroman will receive the Julia Hansen Award for Excellence in Directing.

Long considered the theatre season's most festive award ceremony, The Drama League Awards pays tribute to the season's best performers by including the nominees of The Distinguished Performance Award on a dais.  The 77th Annual Drama League Awards dais will feature approximately 50 stars from the 2010-11 Broadway and Off-Broadway season.
