Tony Award Administration Committee Meets for First Time During 2013-14 Season

TONY AWARDS ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETS
FOR FIRST TIME DURING THE 2013-2014 SEASON
TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY

New York, New York (October 24, 2013) – The Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the first time this season to determine the eligibility of three Broadway productions for the 2014 American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.   The Tony Awards Administration Committee will meet a total of five times throughout the 2013-2014 season to decide the eligibility for the 68th Annual Tony Awards. 

The three productions discussed include: First Date, Soul Doctor and Romeo and Juliet.  The committee made the following determination:

Eric Anderson will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical category for his performance in Soul Doctor.

All other eligibility determinations were consistent with the show’s opening night credits.

The 2014 Tony Awards will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on Sunday, June 8th, (8:00 – 11:00 p.m. ET/PT time delay) on the CBS Television Network.

The American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. At The Broadway League, Nick Scandalios is Chairman and Charlotte St. Martin is Executive Director. At the American Theatre Wing, William Ivey Long is Chairman and Heather Hitchens is Executive Director.

Andrew C. McGibbon has spent the past thirty years working in live theatre as a stage manager, general manager, producer and leader in the convergence of Broadway and online.

Mr. McGibbon worked as a stage manager and general manager for ten years. In 1994 he created a website devoted to live theatre, BroadwayWorld-Wide.com. The site was subsequently bought by, and became Playbill.com. He continued to manage the site for Playbill for four years. In 2000 he became the website manager for TonyAwards.com. With the 2008-09 season he finished his ninth year on the show. He has also worked as a webmaster for the Broadway LeagueJazz at Lincoln Center, and as the Director of Digital Media for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

Since 2015, Andrew has been working as an architectural photographer and virtual tour photographer known for his photography of theatres such as the Kimmel Center, Tanglewood, Signature Theatre Company, Roundabout Theatre Company, Arena Stage and the Goodspeed Opera House.

Mr. McGibbon is a member of the American Theatre Critics Association, the Independent Theatre Bloggers AssociationActors' Equity Association and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, as well as the American Society of Media Photographers

In addition to his work in the theatrical industry, Mr. McGibbon is also a partner in Simple Solutions Distributing, a manufacturer of filtration equipment for the waste-water industry.
