Gray Line New York Honors Television and Broadway Icons & Co-Founders of Broadway Barks, Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters
Leading NYC Tourism Company Celebrates Exemplary New Yorkers with its
"Ride of Fame™” Campaign Series

New York, NY – August 17, 2012: Gray Line New York, New York City's premiere double-decker bus and motorcoach tourism company, has announced today that Television and Broadway icons Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, as well as co-founders of Broadway Barks, an organization whose mission is to help shelter animals find permanent homes in NYC, produced by Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS, will be inducted into the Ride of Fame.   A ribbon-cutting ceremony where a custom decal will be unveiled on the front of the vehicle  displaying their likenesses,  also incorporating a special edition poster designed by the legendary Bob Mackie, for this year's 14th  annual  Broadway Barks, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event,  which the two actresses recently co-hosted.  Ms. Peters will be on hand for the unveiling on Tuesday, August 21st, 12 noon on PIer 78 at 455 12th Avenue at 38th Street.

Since 1926, Gray Line New York has been a proud staple of the New York City tourism industry, bringing visitors to all the must-see stops in New York City on its signature red double-decker tour buses. Now with its Ride of Fame™ campaign, Gray Line New York is recognizing and honoring leading New Yorkers and iconic New York establishments, whom they identify as exemplary community figures and entities by bestowing a bus in their fleet to each dedicatee.  This will be the first occasion where two legendary celebrities are inducted onto one bus.

"I am delighted and thrilled that Mary and I are being inducted into Gray Line New York's Ride of Fame™  Campaign.  When we first started Broadway Barks 14 years ago, it was a way to educate the public about the thousands of NYC's homeless animals in peril and in need , “ said Ms. Peters. “Now Broadway Barks has become a destination.  People travel from across the country to attend our annual event .  It’s remarkable!  Having Gray Line New York recognize our mission only helps to enhance our message to New Yorkers and all of its tourists, ' adopt a shelter animal '."

“How wonderful is it to have two legendary New Yorkers joining us on the Ride of Fame™ campaign together,” says David W. Chien, Director of Marketing for Gray Line New York, “We are certainly honored to share this special moment with the world, as well as bringing the attention to Broadway Barks.”

The dedication will include the revealing of Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore’s signature, open-top, red double-decker bus that millions of sightseers will be able to “ride” each day moving forward.  Gray Line New York’s Ride of Fame™ campaign unveils a monthly dedication with future commendable New Yorkers to follow. Hollywood may have its “Walk of Fame,” but now New York has its own mobile monument to immortalize New Yorkers honored by Gray Line New York for their contributions to making New York a great city.

Past honorees include: Liza Minnelli, Donald Trump, Whoopi Goldberg, Richard Dreyfuss, Rachael Ray, New York Ranger, Henrik Lundqvist, Cyndi Lauper, Marc Anthony, Kenneth Cole and legendary New York Yankee, Reggie Jackson.
