Atlantic Theater Company Announces Free Reading Series, LATINO MIXFEST Aug 8-13

ATLANTIC THEATER COMPANY ANNOUNCES
“LATINO MIXFEST”

FREE READING SERIES PLAY FESTIVAL
AUGUST 8 - 13, 2012

Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director, Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) will present LATINO MIXFEST, a series of free readings that will run Wednesday, August 8 – Monday, August 13 at Atlantic Stage 2 (330 West 16 Street).

LATINO MIXFEST is back for a third year with a slate of exciting writers, following a successful run of Chimichangas and Zoloft by Fernanda Coppel this season, which first began at Mixfest in 2010. This year’s festival continues to mix-up the palette of new work while also providing support to a new group of playwrights. Join us at our Stage 2 to hear the stories and meet the artists.

LATINO MIXFEST is made possible, in part, through the leadership support of Time Warner Inc.

WHAT WE TOLD THE NEIGHBORS by Brian Otaño

Directed by Patricia McGregor

Linda is slowly dying of cancer and has recently started seeing visions of her dead husband Jack. The trouble is, she can't quite figure out why her best friend's son JP can see him and why he won't stop asking questions about her sickness, her life and their shared past. Unfolding over the course of one day in 1996, What We Told The Neighbors is a genre-bending exploration of the lives of two enmeshed families haunted by a legacy of violence, addiction and secrecy.

ELK CLONER by Rogelio Martinez

Directed by Jaime Castañeda

It's 1982, technology and medicine are continuing to change the world as we know it. On the radio Rick Springfield is warning us not to talk to strangers, viruses (human and electronic) are spreading, and people are dying from poisoned Tylenol. When a mom disappears one family is left alone to take on this brave new world.

Monday August 13th, 3:30pm

BUSTED by Florencia Lozano

Directed by Felix Solis

Gigi is pissed at Lucia, who just seems to wanna get f**ked up. Jesse has a secret, Melanie: a special announcement.
