The Tony Awards: Predict the Winners Facebook Game Available Now!

New York, New York (May 7, 2012) – The Tony Awards and the awards prediction site, GoldDerby.com have partnered on the launch of a new online Tony Awards Prediction Game.   The Tony Awards: Predict-the-Winners Facebook Game will give Broadway fans the opportunity to win prizes while forecasting the recipients of the 2012 Tony Awards.    The Tony Awards: Predict the Winners Facebook Game is located at: http://apps.facebook.com/tonypredictions.

The Tony Awards: Predict-the-Winners game allows fans to compete through Facebook against their friends, a team of experts and other notable personalities.   Experts include Roger Friedman (Showbiz 411), Michael Musto (The Village Voice), David Sheward (Back Stage),Thom Geier and Melissa Bernardo (Entertainment Weekly), and Gold Derby editors Tom O’Neil and Paul Sheehan.  

Participants of The Tony Awards: Predict-the-Winners game will have the opportunity to win tickets to next year’s Tony Awards ceremony in New York City and autographed memorabilia. Participants will have the opportunity to win not only by correctly predicting the winners in the Award categories, but by also correctly answering fun questions about the Tony Awards telecast, such as “How many winners will thank their mothers in their acceptance speeches?”  

The Tony Awards: Predict the Winners Facebook Game was developed by GoldDerby.com, a site created by awards historian Tom O’Neil to provide extensive coverage of the Tony Awards, Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards and Golden Globe Awards, and more.  In addition to providing celebrity interviews, in-depth award news and analysis, Gold Derby empowers users to compete against their friends and experts while predicting winners in a gaming context similar to fantasy sports.   Its apps have been developed under the supervision of project manager Conor Stapleton.

The 66th Annual Tony Awards, which are presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing will be broadcast in a live three-hour ceremony from the Beacon Theatre on the CBS television network on Sunday, June 10, 2012.
