The Broadway bound production of the National Theatre of Great Britain’s acclaimed comedy One Man, Two Guvnors, byRichard Bean, has won the three Whatsonstage.com Awards!  One Man, Two Guvnors was chosen as Best New Comedy, James Corden was chosen as Best Actor in a Play and Oliver Chris as Best Supporting Actor in a Play.

One Man, Two Guvnors, directed by Nicholas Hytner,is based on Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters and features songs by Grant Olding. One Man, Two Guvnors will open at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street) on Broadway on April 18, 2012.

In One Man, Two Guvnors, James Corden stars as “Francis Henshall” in ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS with Oliver Chris as “Stanley Stubbers”, Jemima Rooper as “Rachel Crabbe”, Tom Edden as “Alfie”, Martyn Ellis as “Harry Dangle”, Trevor Laird as “Lloyd Boateng”, Claire Lams as “Pauline Clench”, Fred Ridgeway as “Charlie Clench”, Daniel Rigby as “Alan Dangle”, Suzie Toase as “Dolly”.  The company will also include Brian Gonzales, Eli James, Ben Livingston as “Gareth”, Sarah Manton, Stephen Pilkington, David Ryan Smith, Natalie Smith.

One Man, Two Guvnors has also won the Evening Standard Award and and the London Critics Circle Awards.

UK critics are raving for the West End production, saying: “Fresh from winning this paper's award for best play, Richard Bean's delicious reworking of Carlo Goldoni's Servant of Two Masters is an astonishing tour de force, lit up by James Corden in the lead” (Evening Standard). “The mixture of improvisation with immaculate planning is perfectly exemplified by James Corden's brilliant Francis. I suspect you would had to have had a humour by-pass not to enjoy it.” (The Guardian). “The glorious One Man, Two Guvnors is the funniest show in town.” (Telegraph).

In One Man, Two Guvnors, Corden stars as “Francis Henshall” (“ONE MAN”).  Always-famished and easily-confused, Henshall agrees to work for a local gangster as well as a criminal in hiding (“TWO GUVNORS”), both of whom are linked in a tangled web of schemes and romantic associations... none of which Francis can keep straight. So he has to do everything in his power to keep his two guvnors from meeting while trying to eat anything in sight along the way. Simple.

Falling trousers, flying fish heads, star-crossed lovers, cross-dressing mobsters and a fabulous on-stage band are just some of what awaits at the most “deliriously funny” (The Daily Telegraph) new play to cross the pond in decades.

The creative team for One Man, Two Guvnors includes Mark Thompson (set & costumes), Cal McCrystal (Physical Comedy Director), Mark Henderson (lights) & Paul Arditti (sound).

One Man, Two Guvnors will be produced on Broadway by Bob Boyett and the National Theatre of Great Britain.

In the West End, One Man, Two Guvnors continues to play a record-breaking run at the Adelphi Theatre through February 25, 2012 before it transfers to to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End, beginning March 2, 2012.  This follows another record-breaking run at the National Theatre.
