Tonight is the official opening of Roundabout Theatre Company’s new production of John Osborne’s Look Back in Anger, directed by Roundabout Associate Artist Sam Gold. The cast features Adam Driver as “Cliff,” Sarah Goldberg as “Allison,” Charlotte Parry as “Helena,” and Matthew Rhys as “Jimmy”.

Look Back in Anger opens officially on February 2, 2012 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). The production will play a limited engagement through April 8, 2012.

Look Back in Anger is often regarded as a pivotal theatrical work of the last century.  It is a shocking and vibrant drama about four people struggling to live together and love each other in 1950s England. 

The design team includesAndrew Lieberman (Sets), David Zinn (Costumes), Mark Barton (Lights), Bray Poor (Sound).

Look Back in Anger premiered in 1956 at the Royal Court Theatre in London.  In 1957, the play opened on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play.  Roundabout Theatre Company has a history with Osborne’s work, having staged Look Back in Anger (1980), Inadmissible Evidence (1981) and The Entertainer (1982).

Look Back in Anger plays Tuesday through Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. with Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. 

Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2011-2012 season features Athol Fugard’s The Road To Mecca starring Rosemary Harris, Carla Gugino & Jim Dale, directed by Gordon Edelstein; John Osborne’s Look Back in Anger, directed by Sam Gold; Marc Camoletti’s Don’t Dress For Dinner adapted by Robin Hawdon, directed by John Tillinger; Simon Gray’s The Common Pursuit,directed by Moisés Kaufman; Mary Chase’s Harvey starring Jim Parsons, Jessica Hecht & Charles Kimbrough, directed by Scott Ellis. Roundabout’s Tony Award winning production of Anything Goes starring Sutton Foster & Joel Grey, directed & choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, is currently playing at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The 2011 Tony® Award winning Anything Goeswill set sail on a National Tour at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square in October 2012.  Following its opening in Cleveland, Anything Goes will cruise into more than 25 other cities during the 2012/2013 season.
