LONDON: Roll up, Roll up, to Priceless London Wonderground

Underbelly, Southbank Centre and Strut & Fret present
At Priceless London Wonderground

Delightfully dark Australian circus hit Cantina makes its London premiere this summer, headlining Priceless London Wonderground at Southbank Centre.

Roll up, roll up for an evening of beautiful, exhilarating and truly breathtaking entertainment. International grunge circus hit Cantina will headline Priceless London Wonderground, a new five-month long festival of cabaret, music, sideshow and circus at London’s Southbank Centre, from 8th May 2012.

An electrifying cocktail of glamorous vaudeville and scintillating circus, Cantina features a brilliant company of Australia's finest circus artists from Circa, La Clique, Acrobat and Circus Oz.  Brace yourself for a dark and dangerous world of faded glamour, passion and suspense. As this spectacle of bygone music, magic and remarkable displays of acrobatics and dance unfolds, the line between passion and pain is never quite clear.

Devised by the creators of the Tom Tom Crew, Cantina is fresh from sell-out tours of Australia and Europe.  The darkly sexy cabaret feast will make its London premiere this summer, performed inside an exquisite Spiegeltent, the centrepiece of Priceless London Wonderground.

Priceless London Wonderground is the brainchild of Underbelly and Southbank Centre and is being jointly presented by both organisations. A brand-new amusement ground for the capital, Priceless London Wonderground will bring a taste of early 20th Century Coney Island to London and will be situated on the transformed coach park between the Royal Festival Hall and the London Eye.

E4 Udderbelly Festival, with the live entertainment venue shaped like an upside down purple cow, will also return for its fourth year at Southbank Centre, side-by-side Priceless London Wonderground. Both Priceless London Wonderground and Udderbelly festivals will form part of Southbank Centre's site-wide Festival of the World with MasterCard this summer.

Jude Kelly, Southbank Centre Artistic Director said: “Southbank Centre is celebrating this unique moment in London's history with our Festival of the World with MasterCard. We are presenting amazing shows, projects and exhibitions from across the globe from June to September and playing host to every nation. At Priceless London Wonderground at Southbank Centre, a beautiful Spiegeltent beside the river will showcase the great Australian show, Cantina plus cabaret and circus talent.”

Priceless London Wonderground is part of MasterCard’s recently launched Priceless London programme. Priceless London offers all MasterCard cardholders that register on the very best seats for Cantina with exclusive access to the Spiegeltent, to Priceless London Wonderground's VIP bars and to meet the cast of the show.

Paul Trueman, Head of Marketing at MasterCard UK & Ireland, comments, “We're delighted to be enhancing experiences in our iconic capital city - for Londoners and for visitors from the UK and abroad - through Priceless London. We’re very excited to be bringing Cantina to the Southbank, showcasing the finest circus, song and dance acts Australia has to offer, right here in London.”
