Complete Casting Announced for Target Margin Theater's UNCLE VANYA

COMPLETE CAST ANNOUNCED
FOR
TARGET MARGIN THEATER’S

U N C L E   V A N Y A

DIRECTED BY DAVID HERSKOVITS

CONCLUDES COMPANY’S  “AFTER ANTON” 2011-12 SEASON

New York, NY (March 28, 2012) –Target Margin Theater (David Herskovits, Artistic Director; John Del Gaudio, Managing Director) has announced the complete cast for its reimagined look at Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.

TMT concludes the 2011-2012 season, aptly titled “After Anton,” with this new Vanya.  Under the direction of David Herskovits, the cast will feature Clare Barron as Marina, Don Castro as Telegin, Rebecca Hart as Helena, Susan Hyon as Sonya, Mary Neufeld as Serebryakov, Edward O’Blenis as Astrov, Steven Rattazzi as Mme. Voynitskaya and Greig Sargeant as Vanya.

Performances begin Thursday, April 26, 2012 for a limited engagement through Saturday, May 19 2012 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, entrance on Dominick Street, one block south of Spring).  Opening Night is Monday, April 30, 2012.

“Our reimagined production of Uncle Vanya is “After Anton,” in many senses, the theme of our current season,” said David Herskovits.  “It is a later recreation of a classic work, like a painting, ‘after’ an old master.”   Herskovits went onto add, “But it is also a memory, a recollection of a story, people, feelings, that may seem lost in the distance, and yet suddenly present. Everyone in this story is living in the past or living in the future, but only rarely do they actually engage with the present, the full passionate immediate moment.”

In closing he stated, “My approach to telling the story reflects that displacement. We have reinvented the text through a process of workshop play, reading, and rewriting; as if the story had been learned, forgotten and then remembered in different words. So, too, I hope to create a layered event, with the sounds, colors, and immediacy of lived experience sometimes muted and sometimes vivid; sometimes grisaille and sometimes Technicolor.”

The creative team includes Laura Jellinek (Sets), Annie Simon (Costumes), Lenore Doxsee (Lighting), Kate Marvin (Sound & Dramaturg), David Herskovits (Sound), and Kate Foster (Props).  The Production Stage Manager is Phillip Rudy.

Tickets are priced at $20 for performances April 26-29 / $25 for all remaining performances and may be purchased online at www.here.org,  through Theatermania by calling (212)352-3101, or at the HERE Box Office after 5 PM on show days only

Uncle Vanya will play the following performance schedule:  Mondays, Wednesdays – Fridays at 8:30 p.m., Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. & 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4:00 p.m.  Please note: Special Benefit Performance at 7pm on Monday, May 7, with tickets available for $100.
