LIMITED EDITION TOTE BAG

MADE FROM TIMES SQUARE BILLBOARD

NOW AVAILABLE!

New York, NY (5/25/2010) Producers of the Tony Award-winning musical HAIR announced today that the show has captured its Times Square billboard and repurposed it to create a limited edition tote bag, rather than discarding the large advertisement, made of vinyl.  This collector’s item will be available only at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street) beginning today (Tuesday, May 25).  Two-hundred-sixty totes were made from the billboard, and will be available while supplies last.

In addition to the totes (which saved a huge piece of vinyl from being sent to a landfill), HAIR, in collaboration with Creative Goods, NYC, also offers an entire collection of eco-friendly merchandise in line with the message of the show:   Apparel is made with organic cotton or organic cotton-blend; HAIR’s souvenir book is printed on recycled paper with vegetable ink; Creative Goods always uses recycled plastic bags for every purchase.

Directed by Diane Paulus and choreographed by Karole Armitage, HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermotHAIR opened at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 W 45 Street, NYC) to rave reviews on March 31, 2009.  The story of a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era, HAIR is a timeless portrait of a movement that changed the world.
