FRINGE FOLLOWING 2011: THE POWER OF THE CRYSTALS Returns

MISSING TEENS TO DESTROY ENTIRE WORLD THROUGH SUCCESS, SUCCESS, SUCCESS AT THE NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL FRINGE FESTIVAL (August 12-28th)

Are you angry enough? Are you attractive enough? Do you have enough addictions? No. You do not. That is…not yet. This August, you will learn business acumen. You will reach out and crush someone. You will no longer be the irritated wanderer; you will become the funky dictator.  You will come to know…

THE POWER OF THE CRYSTALS

Presented by Kick ‘Em While They’re Down Productions

The New York International Fringe Festival – FringeNYC
A production of The Present Company
August 12th – 28th
Tickets: $15-$18. For tickets visit www.FringeNYC.org

More than a motivational seminar, more than a rock concert, more than a theatre production, The Power of the Crystals is something new, something unique!

The Missing Teens, America’s no. 1 core-core band, turn the tables on both conventional live music and live theatre performance with their searing exploration of THE POWER OF THE CRYSTALS. Fronted by preacher and con-man James Call, and backed by *dancing wives*, the Missing Teens will explain to you why staying indoors and drinking a bottle of vodka while doing data entry is just as important as putting on new shades and hitting the gym, and how you can synthesize these habits to create a new, despotic you.
They will lead you through a 13-step program and teach you the 7 Habits of Highly Destructive People to help you attain Hawkman and meet with success, success, success in whatever you do.

Directed by Quin Gordon and featuring the acting talents of EJ Cantu, THE POWER OF THE CRYSTALS makes its Manhattan premiere this August in The New York International Fringe Festival, a Production of the Present Company.

James Call has been a cult figure in the New York and San Francisco music scenes for over ten years, first fronting the 6-member German Cars vs. American Homes for many years before enjoying the academic life studying audio engineering at CCNY’s Sonic Arts Center and subsequently founding history’s most important (and attractive) band, The  Missing Teens. His numerous records include Power, One in a Million, and Music for Young Adults, snippets of all of which can be heard at themissingteens.com, and can be purchased at Amazon and on the iTunes store, if you’re into that sort of thing. His music has been played on the radio in Omsk, Russia and various weird cities in the middle of this country as well.

Quin Gordon is a man so handsome he sometimes cannot be captured by photography, like a vampire. His NY directing credits include: Babette's Feast (world premiere- IAM and Threads Theater), The Dinner Party (Lincoln Ctr. Institute), Hot Cripple (Seeing Place Theater), Red Light Winter (DiePort VanCleef Theater), People Like You (9Thirty Theater). Quin also
assistant directed Vieux Carre (Pearl Theater- Austin Pendleton) and The Widowing of Mrs. Holroyd (Mint Theater- Stuart Howard). The Power of the Crystals (Astoria Brewhouse), the upcoming Hamlet (Aspen Symphony), and is currently workshopping and developing The Picture of Dorian Gray starring
Wesley Taylor and Lauren Molina. BFA- North Carolina School of the Arts.

EJ Cantu is more machine now than man. His NY acting credits include: Streamers (Roundabout Theatre), The Dinner Party (Lincoln Ctr. Institute),
and the upcoming pilot The Drama Dept. BFA – North Carolina School of the Arts.

Renee Cole is a singer, writer, acclaimed Lady Gaga impersonator, leap day baby, and Barbra Streisand super fan. Her NY acting credits include: Mistress Ilsa (Midtown Int’l Theatre) and numerous off-off Broadway
productions and commercials and print ads. In 2010 she was featured on the cover of the NY Times Arts Section and founded The Leap Day Theatre
Company.  She can also be heard as the voice of "Bunni" in the Playboy.com cartoon "Bunni Power." Training: LIU and HB Studios. reneecole.com

Katelyn Machnica was converted to the power of the Crystals last fall while plying its followers with precious alcohol, and is thrilled to be sharing her Mukor-bestowed gifts. Previous theatre credits include Boeing
Boeing, Evita, The Vagina Monologues, Cabaret, and the title role in Hamlet, among others.

“I feel angry. I feel reactive. I feel attractive. And I have the Power of the Crystals to thank.” – George Clooney

“The Missing Teens are on to something big, something generational – they’ve got business acumen. Yes, we can align the crystals. Yes, we
will.”
– President Barack Hussein Obama

“Without question, the key my personal success, success, success. I want to set fire to the crystals. I want to make love to the crystals” – Mark Sanchez
