THE PLAYERS THEATRE RENAMES 50 SEAT LOFT PERFORMANCE SPACE

THE STEVE & MARIE SGOUROS THEATRE

       The legendary Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street in the heart of NYC’s Greenwich Village, announced the re-naming of its 50 seat ‘Loft Theatre’.

        The popular performance space will now be known as The Steve & Marie Sgouros Theatre.

        The black box theatre, which measures 31’ x 43’, is available for both rehearsals and for performances.  The Steve & Marie Sgouros Theatre includes a concert piano, dressing room, bathroom and storage area.

In addition to The Steve & Marie Sgouros Theatre, The Players Theatre includes a main stage 248 seat Off Broadway theatrefour rehearsal studiosan office suite for small arts organizations and the famous Cafe Wha?, which has been a Greenwich Village mainstay since the 1960's. 

Built in 1907 and converted into a theatre in the late 1940's, The Players Theatre has been home to such long run productions as “An Evening with Quentin Crisp”, “Psycho Beach Party” and “Ruthless” starring the very young Brittany Spears, Natalie Portman and Laura Bell Bundy.  Current productions include the haunting “PLAY DEAD” co-written by Teller (of Penn and Teller) and Todd Robbins
