TIME STANDS STILL to Reopen at Cort Theatre on Sep 23

“A FLAWLESS PRODUCTION OF A POWERFUL DRAMA.”

-- The New York Times

TIME STANDS STILL
TO RESUME PERFORMANCES ON BROADWAY
AT THE CORT THEATRE
SEPTEMBER 23, 2010

PRODUCTION WILL RE-OPEN THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7

Tony nominated Best Play TIME STANDS STILL will resume performances on Broadway at the Cort Theatre on September 23, 2010.  The production will re-open on Thursday, October 7.  The play is written by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies and is directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan.

TIME STANDS STILL will star original cast members Laura Linney, Brian d’Arcy James, and Eric Bogosian. Golden Globe and Emmy nominated Christina Ricci will join the cast as ‘Mandy.’ Linney recently received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play for her performance as ‘Sarah.’

Tickets for TIME STANDS STILL, which enjoyed an extended sold-out run at Manhattan Theatre Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre this spring, will go on sale Monday, May 31, 2010. The production will be on hiatus until the fall to accommodate Linney’s commitment to her new Showtime series “The Big C” which is now in production and will premiere Monday, August 16, 2010. Ricci recently wrapped production on an adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s short story “Bel Ami” co-starring Rob Pattinson, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Uma Thurman.

When it opened this spring, TIME STANDS STILL was hailed by critics and quickly became Broadway’s “hot ticket” (WOR Radio).  The New York Times called the play “handily Margulies’ finest play since the Pulitzer Prize winning Dinner With Friends” and USA Today said the production “soars.”

Last week, the production was honored with two Tony Award nominations: Best Play, and Best Leading Actress in a Play (Laura Linney).

Sarah and James, a photographer and a journalist (Laura Linney and Brian d’Arcy James), have been together for years and share a passion for documenting the realities of war. But when circumstances compel them to return home to New York and their circle of friends (Eric Bogosian and Christina Ricci) the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life.

TIME STANDS STILL will be produced by Manhattan Theatre Club Productions; Inc. (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove Executive Producer); Nelle Nugent; Bud Martin; Ted Snowdon; and Wendy Federman.

The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), Rita Ryack (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Darron L West (sound design), Peter Golub (original music), and Thomas Schall (fight direction).

Tickets range from $56.50 - $121.50 with premiere seating available from $176.50 - $251.50 with standing room (when available) at $26.50. Tickets include a $1.50 facility fee. Tickets will be available through Telecharge.com, by phone at 212-239-6200, or 800-432-7250, online at www.Telecharge.com  starting May 31, 2010.

Additional listings information will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Theatre Speaks

I have no enthusiasm whatever about dying. I think it’s a terrible waste of time, and I don’t want to participate in it.
