Here is just some of what critics had to say about James Spader, David Alan Grier, and Kerry Washington in RACE:

 “…an excellent James Spader”

- Ben Brantley, the New York Times

“James Spader…offers a pitch-perfect combination of wit, weariness and cool brutality.”

-Elysa Gardner, USA Today

“James Spader, fresh from "Boston Legal" is terrific, deadpanning through Mamet's signature rapid fire dialogue with consummate skill….David Alan Grier is first rate.”

-Roma Torre, NY1

“Spader is right at home in the smooth, almost likably reptilian role, and he gets most of the best zinger distillations of ruthless pragmatism to come out of a Mamet play since "Glengarry Glen Ross."

-David Rooney, Variety

“The excellent David Alan Grier…”

-Michael Kuchwara, AP

“Grier makes a terrific impression as a tough-talking attorney”

– Joe Dziemianowicz, The Daily News

“With every line, Washington unveils a new layer of Susan’s personality…she’s giving an intensely powerful stage portrayal here, with line deliveries among the show’s most pungent, and a blistering intonation of one of the curtain lines that is utterly unforgettable for its clear-eyed savageness.

-Talkin’ Broadway, Matthew Murray

“The lively David Alan Grier is excellent.”

- Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune

“Grier’s skills as a comedian are held at bay to show off his impressive dramatic chops.  Grier gives a noteworthy performance.  He has no problem handling the author’s machine-gun-fire sarcasm yet he finds ways of hinting at a more fully drawn character,”

-Charles McNulty, Los Angeles Times
